BENTONVILLE — Northwest Arkansas Community College’s enrollment for the spring semester is down about 1 percent from the 2017 spring semester, according to a news release.

There were 7,228 students enrolled compared to 7,299 this time last year, according to preliminary, unofficial numbers. The official 11th day enrollment number will be given to the state Department of Higher Education in February.

This spring semester’s number is higher than the 7,181 enrollment for the 2016 spring semester.

Nationally, post-secondary enrollment decreased 1 percent in fall 2017 from the previous fall, according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center. Two-year public college enrollment was down 1.7 percent. Enrollment numbers for the fall 2017 semester at Arkansas colleges and universities showed a decrease of almost 2 percent.

The student credit hour enrollment this spring at NWACC is 63,787, down from 65,124 in spring 2017.

The college’s online offerings continue to grow as it’s offering 304 sections online, up from 291 last spring. The number of students enrolled in at least one online course grew by more than 3 percent with 3,200 students taking at least one online course, compared to 3,099 students last spring.
