DUDLEY, Mass. —
A fired employee of a Massachusetts Boys & Girls Club is facing multiple charges for pulling girls’ hair or clothing and kissing others on the cheeks, police said.
Dudley police said the behavior was reported on Tuesday evening, but allegedly occurred earlier that day. Club officials said it had fired the employee, and police said charges were filed on Friday.
The suspect was identified as a 33-year-old male from Southbridge, but police did not immediately release his name.
He faces six counts of assault and battery on a child and one count of disturbing the peace, officers said. Investigators said the incidents all occurred while he was working at the club in a cafeteria area.
One girl, who asked to remain unnamed, said on Thursday that the employee pulled her hair and then threatened her and her friends.
“He pulled my hair and he was, like, ‘I’m going to slap the braces off of you,” she said. “I was really scared because I didn’t know what was going to happen.”
“She was in a panic,” Stacey Lundy-Teixeira said about her granddaughter, “telling me, ‘Nana, one of the staff members pulled my hair.’”
“We could smell the alcohol on his breath, and then we realized that he was drunk,” the girl said.
Police said the suspect will be summoned to court for a “show cause” hearing in October.
