FAYETTEVILLE — A Rogers man was sentenced to federal prison Friday for child pornography.

Peng Chanthalangsy, 37 was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release on one count of receipt of child pornography.

The Rogers Police Department, while investigating a drug trafficking organization in March 2016, searched Chanthalangsy’s residence, according to court documents, confiscating illegal narcotics, law enforcement seized numerous computers and electronic devices. While searching the electronic devices for evidence of drug trafficking, law enforcement found numerous images of child pornography.

A federal search warrant was obtained specifically to search for child pornography, which revealed 2,000 images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. At sentencing, the government presented the court with evidence some of the images depicted minors as young as toddlers.

Chanthalangsy was indicted by a federal grand jury in April and entered a guilty plea in August.

This case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security and the Rogers Police Department.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks presided over the sentencing hearing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dustin Roberts prosecuted the case.
