All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Officer Greene investigated an injury motorcycle crash on the eastbound Bypass Exit Ramp at Higdon Ferry Road last week.

Witnesses at the scene said that the motorcycle was northbound on Higdon Ferry, made a left turn up the bypass exit – which put it traveling the wrong way on a one way exit ramp.  A new Ford F-150 pick-up truck was coming down the ramp and merging onto Higdon Ferry southbound.  The motorcycle struck the front of the truck as it turned onto the exit ramp.

The truck came to a controlled stop at the area of impact.  The motorcycle crashed onto it’s side after impact and came to final rest next to the truck.

Ofc. Greene administered roadside DWI testing on the motorcycle rider.  The motercycle rider, Howard Frank Lowrey, 47 was arrested, transported to the Garland County Detention Center and charged with DWI.

Arkansas State Troopers stopped and assisted initially.  Being that this crash occurred inside the city limits, Hot Springs Police were called out to work the crash.

Hot Springs Fire & Rescue Troops arrived quickly and assisted as needed.

Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 40 minutes.
