A federal appeals court has cleared the way for the NFL to suspend Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott six for a domestic violence case in Ohio.

The 22-year-old Elliott was suspended by Commissioner Roger Goodell in August after the league concluded following a yearlong investigation that he had several physical confrontations last summer with his girlfriend at the time. The NFL players’ union sued on Elliott’s behalf.

The case will essentially start all over again, but will now move from Texas to New York, where Elliott has 10 days to refile his motion to fight the suspension.

Three years ago, the NFL stiffened its domestic violence policy with the six-game standard and more investigative power. The changes came after the league was sharply criticized for its handling of a domestic incident involving former Baltimore running back Ray Rice.

The Associated Press continued to this report.
