The Humane Society of Louisiana said the bow and arrow attack was reported Saturday night in New Iberia, where Sox the cat was shot in her top left shoulder.

Jeff Dorson, Humane Society of Louisiana director, said the arrow went through Sox’s left shoulder, came out, re-entered on her left side and exited through her backside. The arrow missed the cat’s major organs and arteries.

Sox is being treated at the Dupuy Veterinary Hospital in New Iberia. While the cat’s surgery was discounted, Dorson said the Humane Society is working to raise money for the cat’s $400 bill.

“After being shot, Sox crawled up the outside steps onto the porch and cried at the door with the arrow shot through her,” said Christine Mahoney, one of Sox’s owners.

Dorson said the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office has been notified. Investigators have not identified whoever is responsible for the arrow attack.
