Heights zoning request on Tuesday City Board agenda

A rezoning of residential property on the northwest corner of Cantrell and University for restaurant or other commercial use will be topic of a public hearing at Tuesday night’s Little Rock City Board of Directors meeting.

The Planning Commission voted 0-9 on the change and the hearing is an appeal of that negative decision. The Heights NeighborhoodAssociation has expressed firm opposition and mounted a letter-writing campaign. I’d suspect the odds are not good for this, but a similarly rejected rezoning a block north for a branch bank was approved by the City Board over the Planning Commission and neighborhood objections, so you just don’t know. ┬áThe objections include strip zoning and new traffic at an already busy intersection. Owners of the property are Terminal Partners LLC and STI Holdings of LR, LLLC.
