Tropical Depression Lee strengthened into a tropical storm on Saturday.
Lee is located about 655 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. Lee is currently moving west, and a west-northwestward motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected during the next few days.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect at this time.
Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours.
The news comes just days after Hurricane Irma tore through Florida, leaving millions without power, flooding roads and piling them with debris, which blocked off access to neighborhoods.
Massive power outages crippled other Southeastern states, including Georgia, where more than 150,000 homes and businesses went without electricity for days.
