R. Hannah Chambers is the choice of the North Little Rock School Board to fill the board vacancy created by the resignation last month of Scott Teague.

Chambers was one of four applicants for the board appointment. A 2004 graduate of North Little Rock School District schools, Chambers is the program coordinator for the Lakewood Property Owners Association and a former family assistant and child caregiver for seven years for a family with four children. She is also a former bank teller and intake administrative assistant for the Pulaski County Juvenile Court.

She attended what is now the University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College from 2012-2015.

The new appointee, once sworn in to office, can only serve until the district’s next School Board election, which will be in November 2018.

Chambers does not live in North Little Rock Zone 5. While she is eligible for the short-term appointment to the board, she would be unable to run for election from that zone in November 2018 unless she moves, Superintendent Kelly Rodgers said Thursday.

Other applicants for the board seat were Sheila Campbell, a local attorney; Adam Burris, co-founder and chief technology officer for Raise the Money Inc., as well as founder and president of Burris Project Solutions LLC; and Cindy Temple, vice president of SP Environmental, where she is responsible for managing finances and daily operations.

School board seats are unpaid positions.
