Officials at an Arkansas district say a “potential safety risk”…

Officials at an Arkansas district say a “potential safety risk” that caused the closure of its schools Friday has been deemed not credible.

In a statement, the Dover School District said schools will still remain closed because of prior notice. Dover’s home football game against Pottsville will be played as scheduled at 7 p.m.

A decision was made Thursday night to shutter all schools Friday out of an “abundance of caution” and to give authorities time to investigate the credibility of the reported threat, according to officials.

“Dover school officials worked with the Dover Marshal’s Office through the night to confirm or disconfirm any risk to our students, staff and faculty,” the statement reads in part.

Dover, a Pope County town of about 1,400 residents, is around 9 miles north of Russellville.
