FARMINGTON — Reagan L. Phifer, 20, of Farmington was arrested in Oklahoma on this afternoon in connection with the death of a three-month-old girl, according to police.

Authorities took him into custody in Colcord, Okla., and he’ll be extradited back to Arkansas, police said.

An arrested warrant for first degree murder was issued for Phifer earlier today.

Police responded July 27 to 294 Kelsey Lane for an unresponsive female infant. The baby was airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital where she died the next day, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The infant had pre-existing injuries in different stages of healing when she died, including fractured ribs, fractures in her leg, brain injuries and a hand print shaped bruise on the back of her neck, according to the affidavit.

Her death was a result of the injuries she suffered in the previous two weeks, according to the affidavit.

Phifer had babysat the infant during the day the previous two weeks while the girl’s mother was at work. Phifer was present when police arrived July 27, according to the affidavit.

First-degree murder is punishable by a sentence of 10-40 years or life in prison.
