International Films and Hollywood Celebrity Guests Headline Hot Springs International Horror Film Festival

HOT SPRINGS- Eight year old, silver screen prodigy Bob Sheen and Hollywood Independent Producer, Erik Fleming will be in attendance at the Fifth Annual Hot Springs International Horror Film Festival. Hosted by Bill Volland, (Director) and Tamara Glynn (Halloween V), the festival will run September 21-24th, at the Historic Central Theater, 1008 Central Avenue, Hot Springs, Arkansas.

“The Rake”, directed by Sheen will screen on Saturday, September 23rd at 6:30 p.m. Sheen along with Fleming, who served as producer on the short , will be available for a Q and A immediately following the screening. Brooke Mueller, Sheen’s mom and fraternal twin Max will also be present.

Sheen, a horror film aficionado who loves the zombie genre, and an avid gamer, found inspiration in urban myths. But his vision was most stimulated by the game Amnesia. And at the tender age of seven, wrote and directed his first film: The Rake.

Son of Charlie Sheen, Wall Street (1987), grandfather Martin Sheen “Apocalypse Now” (1979), and his Uncle Emilio Estevez, “The Breakfast Club” (1985), have been major players on the Silver Screen for generations.

Fleming, formerly with Rich Hippie Productions, has developed a wide array of feature films, television series and documentaries throughout his career. As a writer, producer and director, Fleming has worked on many A-List projects including “America’s Funniest Home Videos: Family Follies”, “The Surreal Life” and “Queer Eye for the Straight Girl”. Fleming also directed the independent feature “My Brother the Pig”starring Scarlett Johansson, Eve Mendes and Judge Reinhold. Fleming will speak on the business and creative sides of producing feature films. (TBA)

Other guests include, Joseph Scott Morgan, on-air forensics expert. Morgan, the Distinguished Scholar of Applied Forensics and an Associate Professor of Applied Forensics at Jacksonville State University in Alabama, will be speaking on the similarities and differences between real life forensic science cases and Hollywood-made films. Morgan’s presentation is Saturday, September 23rd at 7:45 pm.

Morgan has appeared on both Headline News and CNN as the on-air forensics expert for the past four years. He has commented on the cases involving Oscar Pistorius, Robin Williams, Jon Benet Ramsey, Jodi Arias/Travis Alexander, Phillip Seymore Hoffman, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Ariel Castro, and the Zodiac Killer, just to name a few. He was featured regularly on “HLN After Dark” and appeared 54 straight weeks on Nancy Grace’s HLN show. Morgan can currently be seen everySaturday night appearing on “How NOT to Kill Your Husband,” which can be found on Discovery ID. In January 2017, he appeared as the forensics expert on the CNN primetime special “Jon Benet Ramsey: What Really Happened.” He won a Southeastern Regional Emmy in June of 2017.

Morgan will be available for questions and signing his award-winning book, “Blood Beneath My Feet: The Journey of a Southern Death Investigator,” after his presentation.

Actress/Filmmaker Deborah Voorhees, (Friday 13th Part V), along with festival hostess, Tamara Glynn, (Halloween V) will have an open floor Q and A, Friday, September 22nd at 6:30 pm, taking audience questions on the mega horror franchises, fifth installments that both actresses uniquely share. The festival will also screen the Arkansas Premiere of Voorhees short film, Catching Up.

Don’t miss the World Premiere of the animated film, Howard Lovecraft and the Undersea Kingdom, (Christopher Plummer, Ron Perlman) before it’s theatrical release on October 1st. The festival will screen short and feature length, films in the horror, thriller, sci-fi, and fantasy genres.
