A special election is being held on Tuesday to vote on whether land lying east of Highway 112 should be annexed into the city limits.

It’s important to note, there will be two questions on the ballots, but only one question will count. The ballot will ask to annex land east of Highway 112 and to annex land west of Highway 112.

However, after a great deal of controversy, the Rogers City Council voted to cancel the vote for land west of Highway 112 on Friday, November 10.

Weeks ago, residents living west of Highway 112 filed a petition to be annexed into the city of Bentonville, instead of the city of Rogers. When Bentonville approved the petition, Rogers sued the city. The lawsuit has since been dismissed.

The city told 40/29 News the only reason the question about annexing land west of Highway 112 is on the ballots is because it was already printed ahead of time.

Rogers residents and people living east of Highway 112 can vote at Southside Church of Christ, Lakeview Baptist Church, and the Benton County Election Commission from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
