Parking is always at a premium in any Boston neighborhood, but add over a foot of snow and it becomes a great scavenger hunt.

Space savers are allowed for a limited time after a snowstorm strikes, but they also seem to hit a nerve. Luis Ramirez woke up Wednesday morning to find his car had its tires slashed, windows smashed, and mirrors broken.

“Nothing else was missing in the car,” Ramirez said. “There was a GPS, clothes. One of my colleagues told me this is snow rage.”

Ramirez said he parked his car last night in the South End neighborhood in a spot that didn’t have a space saver. “There was nothing, not even a chair,” Ramirez said. “Some people leave chairs, trash bins, something to mark the spot, but nothing was there. I just parked there.”

Space savers expired in Boston on Sunday, 48 hours after the city lifted its parking ban because of the storm. Fortunately for Ramirez, somethings never expire.

“Lucky for us, Boston has a lot of security cameras. So I don’t know whoever did this thinks they’re going to be that safe,” Ramirez said. “So you should think about that when you do that. There are cameras everywhere.”

Boston police are investigating the act of vandalism. City officials said anyone who is a victim of vandalism or receives a threatening note on their car should contact police.
