Derick Dillard, who is married to Jill Duggar Dillard of the Duggar family (and has appeared on several episodes of the family’s series Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting) has been dropped from TLC after sharing a series of transphobic tweets aimed at 17-year-old Jazz Jennings (who also stars on TLC, in the network’s I Am Jazz docuseries).

“I pity Jazz, [for] those who take advantage of him in order 2 promote their agenda, including the parents who allow these kinds of decisions 2 be made by a child,” Dillard wrote — while deliberately misgendering Jazz. “It’s sad that ppl would use a juvenile this way. Again, nothing against him, just unfortunate what’s on tv these days.”

I Am Jazz, a docu-series which centers around the life of Jennings, who is transgender, first premiered on TLC in 2015 and recently aired its third season.

Dillard again defended his stance on Instagram Sunday, sharing a quote by evangelical Christian pastor Rick Warren (over a picture of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson) that reads, “Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do.”

Jennings did not directly respond to Dillard’s comments, but made a statement on Twitter about not letting negative remarks affect her.

This is not the first time Dillard has criticized Jennings or the I Am Jazz show. In August, Dillard said “‘transgender’ is a myth” and claimed the reality show focused on a “non-reality.”

At the time, Jennings again took the high road.

This time TLC, however, did address the situation directly, confirming that Dillard is finished as far as his participation on their shows. They posted a message noting that they do not plan on feature him in Counting On going forward.

“We want to reiterate that Derick’s personal statements do not reflect the views of the network,” the network said on Twitter. “TLC is proud to share the story of Jazz Jennings and her family and will continue to do so.”

Dillard’s wife Jill (who will presumably continue to appear on Counting On, along with her siblings) has not commented on the matter.
