Morning Star Fire & Rescue Troops were dispatched to a fire that had already consumed part of a mobile home last night at Lakeside Mobile Home Park on Highway 270 East.
Dispatch told MSFD Responders en route that smoke was coming from a restroom in the residence and that all the occupants had already evacuated the structure. 3 minutes after being dispatched, were already reporting that the mobile home was 30% involved with fire with other structures in immediate danger.
Within the matter of minutes, the MSFD responders were advising that the trailer was 70% involved and that the fire was spreading. The mobiles homes immediately adjacent to the burning unit began to catch fire. Siding on exterior walls was melting at this point and windows were breaking.
The immediate goal for initial attack of the fire was to preserve adjacent structures and stop the fire from spreading beyond the area already burned. MSFD and Lake Hamilton FD (dispatched via mutual aid agreement) were able to accomplish these goals quickly once FD units began arriving.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation when I departed the scene and had not yet been determined. No injuries were reported in connection to this fire. The residence that the fire started in was a total loss.
MSFD responded with 2 Engines, 1 Tanker and 10 Firefighters. LHFD responded with an Engine and several Firefighters. The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist displaced residents as needed.
