Hot Springs Police Officer First Class McCauley reports that her department investigated the complaint of breaking/entering a vehicle in the 400 Block of Alpine Street in December 2019. The victim said that a 9mm SCCY-CPX-2 pistol, a Remington .270 rifle and a Ruger .308 were stolen from the truck.
HSPD Detectives were able to determine that the Remington rifle had been pawned for $100, in town, on January 30, 2020 by Christopher Rian Melancen, 32, of 9th Street in Mountain Pine.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Melancen and entered it into the police computer.
Mountain Pine Police Sergeant Bratton arrested Mr. Melancen and taken him to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. OFC McCauley reported to the detention center and served the HSPD warrants on Mr. Melancen.
Mr. Melancen is charged with Felony Theft By Receiving and Unlawful Transfer OF Stolen Property To A Pawn Shop Or Pawnbroker with a bond amount totaling $3,500.
