Hot Springs Police report that a fast food worker stole a customer’s credit card during a drive-thru window transaction on December 10, 2019.
The victim used his credit card at the drive through to purchase food. The cashier, Luranda Austin, 37, of Higdon Ferry Road in Hot Springs, handed a different card back to him with the receipt wrapped around the card. $169.13 had been stolen from the victim’s credit card before he realized it was stolen the next day.
The victim contacted the restaurant and they identified Ms. Austin as the cashier. Camera footage from the restaurant showed Ms. Austin concealing the stolen credit card in her pocket while completing the transaction.
Ms. Austin arrived at work on December 11, 2019 and was arrested by HSPD Officer Werst on an unrelated failure to appear warrant. Ofc. Werst told Austin he knew about her stealing the credit card and Ms. Austin admitted to taking the card. Ms. Austin was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.
Ms. Austin is charged with Felony Theft Of Property, her warrant was served, and her bond was set at $2,500.
