Hot Springs Police Officer Jonathon Smith was on patrol in the area of 7th Street when he found a 1999 black Saturn SL allegedly displaying an expired license plate that was registered to a bronze 2003 Chevrolet Impala.
He stopped the car on Wheatley Street and made contact with the driver, Brittany Leshae Erby, 31, of Leonard Street in Hot Springs. As Off. Smith was dealing with the driver, he allegedly smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When asked about the smell, Ms. Erby allegedly said that she had just left a residence where people had been smoking marijuana.
Off. Smith had Ms. Erby exit the car and he conducted a search of her pockets, to which she allegedly agreed to. Off. Smith says that he located half of a Xanax bar in her shirt pocket.
Inside the center console of the vehicle, Off. Smith allegedly located .5 grams of meth wrapped in a napkin. He allegedly also located a digital scale with marijuana residue and a Temazepam pill in the glove box.
Ms. Erby was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. She is charged with Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Possession Of A Controlled Substance x2 and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia with a bond amount totaling $6,500.
