Hot Springs Police took the report for stolen musical instruments that included several guitars and a violin.  The break in/theft occurred around November 9, 2019 on Convention Boulevard in the Convention Center Parking Lot.  The items were taken from a parked, enclosed trailer.  The instruments were valued at $3,950.

The victim posted photos of the stolen items on Facebook.

A lady contacted the victim on November 10, 2019, and advised him that a co-worker of hers told her that the musical instruments were posted for sale on Facebook.

On November 11, 2019, HSPD Detective Jessup met with the tipster who allegedly said that he received a Facebook Post from “Mike Twist” with photos of the stolen gear.  Det. Jessup obtained the pics of the instruments, screen shots of the messages between the 2 and the profile pic for “Mike Twist”.

The pic of the suspect was emailed to all at HSPD in an effort to possibly identify the suspect.  Several officers replied saying that the pic was that of Michael Edward Toombs, 28, of Cones Road in Hot Springs.

Michael Edward Toombs, 28, of Cones Road in Hot Springs – allegedly tried to sell stolen musical instruments through a bogus profile on Facebook.

On November 15, 2019, around 2:30PM, HSPD officers ran into Mr. Toombs in the 1500 Block of Malvern Avenue and arrested him.  He was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.  He is charged with Felony Theft By Receiving with bond set at $2,500.
