Alleged SUV With Cocaine Flees From Trooper; Felony Arrest – HOT SPRINGS

Story by Arkansas 911 News Chief Editor Paul Maddox

Arkansas State Police Trooper Tankersley was on patrol in the area of East Grand Avenue last night when he found a vehicle with an alleged equipment violation.  He attempted to conduct a traffic stop on that vehicle.

The black Dodge Durango allegedly fled from the trooper, refusing to stop and running stop signs.  After a minute or so into the chase, a passenger sprang from the suspect vehicle and ran for his life.  Hot Springs Police assisted with trying to locate this suspect.

Trp. Tankersley gave the description of the suspect to responding back-up units over the radio and stayed with the fleeing vehicle.  The PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) was put on the suspect vehicle, but it failed to produce results; possibly because of the low speed the cars were traveling at the time of the attempt.

The vehicle continued to flee until it came to a stop at the intersection of Grove Street at East Grand Avenue.  Troopers were able to arrest the driver at this point and the vehicle was searched.  Cocaine and another controlled substance (identity not available at press time) was allegedly found inside the suspect vehicle along with some unknown drug paraphernalia item.
