Evidence at the scene suggested that the driver of the Ford Ranger attempted to turn left onto Central Avenue from Grand Isle Drive when it was struck by a northbound Dodge Ram truck. The force of the collision spun the Ford 180° and forced it across the highway and ripped a rear wheel off of the vehicle. The Ford came to final rest blocking the southbound slow lane. It is not known to me what actions the Dodge truck took after impact, but damage was severe enough that it had to be towed from the scene.
Lake Hamilton Fire & Rescue Troops arrived quickly. They blocked/directed traffic and assisted as necessary.
No injuries were reported.
Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 40 minutes.
