Hot Springs Police Officer Davis was patrolling the area of Wade Street when he noticed an occupied vehicle in a handicap parking space, with no handicap placard, at the park around 10:30PM on 10/8/2019.

The driver and passenger were asked to step out of the vehicle so a K9 could sniff the vehicle.  The passenger, Jaquez Jones, allegedly got out holding the left side of his jacket, and officers asked him to go to the back of the vehicle.

Convicted Felon Jaquez Damien Walker Jones, 22, of Arkridge Street in Hot Springs – tazed after allegedly fleeing and tossing a gun.

Jones allegedly walked toward the back of the car, then allegedly fled toward Potter Street.  Off. Davis ran after him, zapped him with his taser, and cuffed him.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a black backpack in the front passenger floorboard that allegedly contained a clear glass bong with burn marks and brown residue in the bowl, THC Oil, a loaded 30 round 9mm magazine, and a loaded 17 round 9mm magazine.  Jones allegedly admitted that everything in the backpack was his.

The driver allegedly told officers that Jones had a black handgun on him when she picked him up, pulled it out of his bag to brag about it, put it in the backpack, and began unloading it when he saw officers coming up to the vehicle.

HSPD K9 Sergeant Constant and his K9 partner searched the area where Jones allegedly fled to and allegedly located a black Glock 9mm Gen 5 pistol in the woods.

According to the police computer, Jones is a convicted felon out of Indiana for armed robbery.

Convicted Felon Jones was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.  He is charged with Felony Possession Of A Firearm By Certain Persons, Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, and Fleeing, with a bond amount totaling $30,000.
