Paige Dillard Evans has announced her candidacy to serve as state representative for District 100, which includes Mountain Home and much of Baxter County.
Evans, a member of the Mountain Home City Council representing Ward 3, made her announcement Wednesday evening at McCabe Park.
She will challenge Nelda Speaks of Mountain Home, the current state representative, in the Republican primary on March 3. Speaks announced her reelection bid in late July.
“After a great deal of prayerful consideration, I have been led to take the next step in this journey of public service,” Evans said. “I’ve called Baxter County my home for 23 years. Growing up here gives me a unique perspective. There is no doubt my passion lies helping people. My hope is you, the voter, would allow me an opportunity be your voice in Little Rock.”
Evans has been a regional representative for the American Cancer Society, the Marion County Hometown Health Coalition Tobacco-Free coordinator and a small-business owner for more than 15 years. She has volunteered with numerous organizations over the past 20 years. Evans is a graduate of Mountain Home High School and attended Harding University and Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.
She is the mother of two grown sons.
Voters with questions for Evans can email the candidate at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at (870) 321-1222. She also has a campaign page on Facebook, “Paige Dillard Evans for Arkansas State Representative.”
