Arkansas State Police Trooper 1st Class Wingo investigated a single vehicle fatal rollover crash around 2:30AM today on Highway 290 at Bristol Lane.
Evidence at the scene showed that the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was westbound on wet pavement when the driver lost control in a curve. The back end swung around which sent the vehicle left of center. It exited the left side of the pavement, struck a driveway embankment, went airborne, overturned and came to final rest on it’s driver side with the driver partially ejected through the sunroof.
The driver, Javier A. Santos, 20, of Hot Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Garland County Coroner’s Office.
LifeNet dispatched an Ambulance Crew to the scene, but the situation was terminal from the outset and they were unable to help.
Lake Hamilton Fire & Rescue troops made it to the scene in less than 5 minutes, but there was nothing they could do for the patient due to the severity of injury. They set a fire watch, took charge of traffic control and otherwise assisted as needed.

Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 2 hours.
