All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Sergeant Freeman was working off duty at Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort on Central Avenue on 5/18/19. Around 8PM, the manager called him to the office outside of the main entrance to the casino, where Garland County Sheriff Deputy Broughton had Jordan David McBroom, 31, homeless in Hot Springs detained.

Jordan David McBroom, 31, homeless in Hot Springs – allegedly caused a disturbance at Oaklawn Casino, had a warrant and caught a felony charge for spitting on a cop

Mr. McBroom had allegedly been causing a disturbance on the property and had allegedly told Dep. Broughton that he had recently used meth. Sgt. Freeman had dispatch run Mr. McBroom’s name in the police computer system. It allegedly said that Mr. McBroom had a valid arrest warrant for Failure to Appear.

Sgt. Freeman arrested Mr. McBroom and requested a patrol unit to transport him to the Garland County Detention Center. Mr. McBroom allegedly began hitting his head on the brick wall while waiting for the transport unit.

HSPD Officer Cox arrived to transport Mr. McBroom to GCDC and while Sgt. Freeman was attempting to buckle him into the rear of Off. Cox’s unit, Mr. McBroom allegedly spit on Sgt. Freeman’s hand. Off. Cox ran lights and siren to GCDC because Mr. McBroom allegedly started banging his head on the inside of the patrol unit.

Mr. McBroom is charged with Failure To Appear and Felony Aggravated Assault On Law Enforcement Officer with a bond amount totaling $3,500.
