All suspects are presumed innocent until determined in court.
Hot Springs Police Officers responded to the call of a possible shooting in the 1600 Block of Hobson Avenue on the morning of May 2, 2019. Officers arrived and found multiple people running from the area of an apartment. Megan N. Johnson, 29, of Hillwood Street in Hot Springs, was allegedly one of the people fleeing the scene. When questioned, Ms. Johnson allegedly told officers she was there when the shots were fired, but was not involved.
Ms. Johnson was detained and HSPD Sergeant Zaner conducted a pat down search of her. During the search, Sgt. Zaner allegedly noticed a bulge in Ms. Johnson’s bra. Sgt. Zaner allegedly located a used syringe and 1.6 grams of meth in Ms. Johnson’s bra cups.
Ms. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center. During this interaction with police, she allegedly admitted that she was “not an addict, but enjoys using” meth, that she injected meth 10 minutes before HSPD showed up, and that she had only been out of the Garland County Detention Center for less than one day.
Ms. Johnson is charged with Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia and Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance, with a bond amount totaling $5,000.
The police report did not mention anything else about the gunfire issue.
