For the first time, this year’s annual AEMTA & EMS Conference & Trade Show, held August 1 – 4, 2019, offered a Complex Extrication H.O.T. (Hands On Training) Class at Legacy Towing on Fox Pass Cutoff.

Complex Extrication H.O.T. Class was held at Legacy Towing on Fox Pass Cutoff in Garland County earlier this month.
Firefighters from different jurisdictions around Arkansas got hands on training with many different tools to learn how to remove enough of the vehicle to safely extricate patients from wreckage in the fastest way possible.
The class started indoors with discussion on how to use different tools such as halligans, axes, pry bars, reciprocating saws, and hydraulic tools that were provided by Ricky Still and Mike Smith of TNT Rescue.

After indoor class time, attendees moved outdoors to run more involved evolutions on upright vehicles, vehicles on their side, and on their top.
Captain Of the Tower at Maumelle Fire Department Adam Cordell, and City of Little Rock Fire Captain John Hogue demonstrated unique ways to create space no matter the orientation of the vehicle.
