Piney Fire Department responded to the call of a lightning strike yesterday morning on Millwood Road.
PFD Troops arrived at the scene and found that 2 trees had been struck by lightning at the base of the trees. Brick landscape decoration was blown apart at 1 tree. It is believed that the lightning traveled under the driveway blowing the concrete out in 2 places.
A telephone junction box on the side of the residence at this location was blown to bits.
No injuries were reported.
This was 1 of 2 lightning strikes reported yesterday. The other lightning strike was just up the highway from this Gillwood Road location. A woman was seriously injured when her trailer home burst into flames following a lightning blast that also initially struck a tree. Go to that scene CLICK HERE.
