Extension Office to begin
fall brucellosis vaccinations
The Baxter County Extension Office will tentatively conduct its fall brucellosis vaccinations on Thursday, Dec. 12.
If you have heifers to be vaccinated, please let the Extension Office know by Thursday, Dec. 5, by calling (870) 425-2335. Callers should include detailed directions to where the heifers will be.
Vaccinations are free of charge. Heifers must be at least 4 months old but not older than 12 months old to be eligible for vaccination. The Extension Office will use the same procedure as in the past and notify you by letter what time you are scheduled for that day. You will need handling facilities to confine and work the calves. Also, you or a representative for you must be present at the time of vaccination or the technician will not vaccinate the heifers. Remember, the time that is scheduled for your stop could be give or take an hour or so. So, if a vaccination is scheduled for 2 p.m., it could be 1 p.m. or 3 p.m., depending on how the day goes.
