A 19-year-old Mountain Home man was arrested Tuesday by Mountain Home police on two charges of sexual indecency with a child.
Devontae James Sipps was booked into the Baxter County jail at 2:49 p.m., according to electronic jail records. He was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
According to an affidavit, Mountain Home police were called to a local motel Tuesday for a disturbance. Upon arriving, they found Sipps in a room with a 14-year-old girl. Upon investigating, authorities say the girl left her home late Monday night without the consent of her parents.
The girl was returned to her parents who told police she was acting differently. It was discovered, according to the affidavit, the girl had smoked marijuana with Sipps. When interviewed, Sipps reportedly told police he had consensual sex with the girl. He also reportedly told police he’d had sex with the girl on one prior occasion.
The charges Sipps faces are Class D felonies punishable by a total of 12 years in prison.
