The Garland County Sheriff’s Department participated in a speed enforcement blitz for Garland County under the tagline: “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine.” The intensified enforcement effort against speeding drivers took place July, 15 – July 21, 2019.
During the “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine” blitz, officers intensified enforcement of posted speed limits in Garland County.
A total of 46 hours of overtime was put in by multiple patrol deputies, in two saturation patrols.
These two saturations yielded 74 speeding citations, one cell phone citation, two fugitive arrests, and six suspended or revoked driver’s license arrests.

During the portion of the speed operation that took place on Highway 70 East near the Rest Area, deputies ran across a person whose information didn’t jive. So, they called Arkansas State Trooper Sheldon to the scene with his digital fingerprint scanner.
