Hot Springs Police Officer “NR” and Officer Werst report the following:
A victim reported the theft and subsequent use of his Arvest Bank personal checks to the Hot Springs Police Department on 01/29/2019. The victim advised that his checking account was shared between he and his now deceased daughter. He said that she previously lived in Hot Springs and her checkbook was stolen at an unknown time. He said he was contacted by Regions bank in reference to several checks being forged in Hot Springs after his daughter had passed away.
The victim provided the following details of three of the checks which were deposited into a Regions account on 01/28/19.
Check [#1] written to Jima Marshall for $2,500.00 with the deceased daughter’s forged signature.
Check [#2] written to Jima Marshall for $750.00 with the victim’s forged signature.
Check [#3] written to Jima Marshall for $450.00 with the victim’s forged signature.
All of the checks were deposited into Jima Marshall’s Regions account where she is the sole owner. On 01/29/2019, Jima Marshall entered Regions Bank (900 Albert Pike) and attempted to withdraw $1,600.00 from her account. Marshall did not have the funds to withdraw from her account because Regions Bank discovered that the three checks deposited were forgeries.
The victim was not at a financial loss in this situation because of Regions Bank discovering the forged checks. It is unknown how Marshall obtained the stolen checks.
(An arrest warrant was obtained for Ms.Marshall and it was entered into the police computer system in case the police ran into her in the future.)
On 07/06/19 at approximately 0003 hours, I, (Officer T. Werst #155), responded to the 100 block of Fred Place in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, I made contact with Jima Marshall who stated she had just been in a verbal argument with her boyfriend. I had dispatch run both the boyfriend and Jima Marshall’s names through ACIC. The ACIC check came back with a valid Forgery warrant (HTC-19-1285)(HT-19-729), a Parole Hold, and a hold for Sharp County Sheriff’s Office on Jima Marshall.
Jima Marshall was placed into custody without incident, cuffs checked for fit and double locked, and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing.
Ms. Marshall is charged with Felony Parole Violation and Felony Forgery x3 with a parole hold in place, a hold for Sharp County Sheriff in place and a bond amount totaling $10,500.
