All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police Officer Moore reports the following:
On 07/19/19 at approximately 19:37 I Off. Moore 116 and OFC Chapin 167 responded to the area of 200 Fountain Street in reference to a hit and run suspect that was in the area. Upon arrival officers discovered the suspect vehicle abandoned on the sidewalk that had struck an unoccupied parked silver Hyundai Sonata causing minor damage.
Some unidentified pedestrians approached me and stated they saw a male with a backpack flee the vehicle and run into the woods. A search of the woods was conducted and a male was located hiding underneath a downed tree. The male located in the woods was identified as David Goings.
A search of the area also found a camouflage backpack. The backpack contained a Smith and Wesson 40 caliber pistol that had a full magazine and one live round in the chamber. There was also a box of ammunition as well as a second loaded magazine found inside the backpack. An ACIC check of Goings returned with a valid probation violation out of Walton County Florida as well as being a convicted felon in November 2017 in Garland County Arkansas. Goings was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Certain Person (5-73-103) and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident (27-53-102).
Mr. Goings was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Possession Of Firearm By A Certain Person and Leaving The Scene Of A Property Damage Accident with a bond amount totaling $6,000, and is being held for Florida.
