Arkansas State Police Corporal Reed investigated a rear-end, injury motorcycle crash around 9:40PM tonight on Highway 270 West at the Musket Street Intersection.
Evidence at the scene suggested that the eastbound motorcycle had slowed/stopped to make a left hand turn when it was struck in the rear by an eastbound pick-up truck. After impact, the truck continued east, crossed the center line, went down an embankment, struck some concrete items and continued to travel up to within about 2 feet of striking the pawn shop building at this location. The motorcycle fell over and rider was ejected at impact. The motorcycle came to final rest on the shoulder of the highway. The rider landed in the highway near the motorcycle.
Garland County Sheriff’s K-9 Patrol Sergeant Kellar found the crash and got all the First Responders headed that way. The sheriff’s patrol assisted as necessary.
Piney Fire & Rescue Troops arrived quickly and took charge of traffic control. They also assisted with patient care, clean up duties and otherwise assisted as needed.
LifeNet Dispatched at least 1 Ambulance Crew and the EMS Supervisor to the scene. The motorcycle rider was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Pete Hill’s Wrecker Service took charge of the bike and removed it from the scene.
Traffic flow was interrupted for approximately 45 minutes.
