On 09/26/2019 at approximately 0350 hours Officers responded to Saint Vincent Emergency Room in reference to a female gunshot victim.
The victim had what appeared to be gunshot wounds to her person. She had a gunshot wound to her left arm (entrance and exit) and left leg at the knee (entrance and exit).
The victim stated that she went to the 100 block of Pinewood to see a friend. While at the residence a male, later identified as Christopher McCoy, came inside the residence waving a gun around.
Christopher was upset about all the people at the residence, the homeowner was present at the time. Christopher’s gun discharged while he was waving it around. The projectile ricocheted off a table then struck the victim in the knee traveling up and out then into her left arm. The victim wasn’t for sure if it was an accident or on purpose.
A witness stated they were leaving the residence when a male, who was later identified as Christopher McCoy, came into the residence yelling. The witness heard a gunshot then a female moaning from pain. She went out into the living room area and found the victim in the living room with the gunshot wounds.
Christopher forced the victim to cut the projectile out of her arm before taking her to the hospital. Christopher was afraid of his fingerprint(s) being on the projectile. Christopher and the witness transported the victim to Saint Vincent Emergency Room for medical treatment.
Christopher originally denied being the shooter at the hospital. Christopher was transported to the Hot Springs Police Department for processing. Christopher later admitted, post Miranda warnings, that he was the one who accidentally shot the victim.
A second witness stated a male identified as Christopher McCoy came into the residence. Christopher was yelling and agitated. Christopher had a holstered two tone semi-automatic handgun on his side. Christopher removed the weapon from the holster and pointed it at her. Christopher told witness #2 to “shut up” while pointing the gun at her.
Mr. McCoy was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Battery 2nd and Felony Aggravated Assault, with a bond amount totaling $5,000.
