Six Baxter County residents were arrested Wednesday after authorities with three different law enforcement agencies executed two search warrants, according to a news release from Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery.
One of the search warrants was served at 14130 AR Highway 5 N. Upon entering the home, officers encountered 46-year-old Nathan Schaffer and 32-year-old Katie Lee Stucken.
When searching the home, authorities discovered 22 grams of methamphetamine, 3.4 grams of fentanyl, one ounce of marijuana, two loaded pistols, two loaded long guns and numerous items of drug paraphernalia both for the sale and use of drugs.
A small child was found in the home, according to the news release. One room of the home had a play area for the child. Inside the play area, authorities reported finding 1.6 grams of fentanyl out in the open on a tray, meth and meth pipes. They also reported finding a meth processing station in the child’s play area.
Schaffer and Stucken were arrested on charges of possession of meth with the purpose to deliver, possession of fentanyl with the purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
Schaffer also faces four additional counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm while Stucken faces a potential penalty enhancement for being an habitual offender. Both were taken to the Baxter County jail where they were held in lieu of $35,000 bonds.
Schaffer has been booked into the Baxter County jail 11 times since 1997, while Stucken has been in the jail 10 times since 2012.
The other search warrant
The other warrant was executed at 402 Baxter County Road 1008 in rural Mountain Home. Once inside the residence, authorities encountered 60-year-old Howard Johnson, 55-year-old Dawn Thompson, 38-year-old Gerald Phillip Morris and 25-year-old Kaitlyn Johnston.
While searching the residence, officers reportedly found 186 grams of meth, five ounces of marijuana, 2.7 grams of fentanyl, several doses of LSD and drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.
Morris, who is on parole and has been in the Baxter County jail 36 times, was arrested on charges of possession of meth, fentanyl and LSD for the purpose of delivery, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Johnson, Thompson and Johnston were all arrested on the same charges as Morris.
Howard Johnson has been in the Baxter County jail 48 times since 1997. Dawn Thompson has been in the Baxter County jail eight times since 1999. Kaitlyn Johnston has been in the Baxter County jail nine times since 2002. All four were taken to the Baxter County jail and held in lieu of $50,000 bonds.
As of Thursday morning, Howard Johnson and Dawn Thompson had posted bond and were released from the jail, while the four remaining suspects were still listed as being held in lieu of their respective bonds.
