Hot Springs Police Officer Greene conducted a traffic stop in the area of Park Avenue and Arbor Street on a white Ford Ranger allegedly sporting a license plate that had been reported stolen to the Garland County Sheriff’s Department three days before. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ronald Ansell VanDyke, 52, of Segovia Drive in Hot Springs Village. Off. Greene immediately detained him.
Mr. VanDyke allegedly told Off. Greene that he had purchased the stolen plate from a friend, then allegedly changed his story saying he found it on Whittington Avenue. Mr. Vandyke allegedly made a comment about how it was coincidental that the truck he was driving and the truck belonging to the stolen plate are both white Ford trucks. Mr. VanDyke allegedly also did not have insurance on the vehicle, a bill of sale, or registration for the truck. He also was allegedly driving with a suspended driver’s license at the time of this stop.
Mr. VanDyke was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Felony Drug Paraphernalia x2, Theft By Receiving, and Possession Of Open Container Containing Alcohol, with a bond amount totaling $11,500.
