Hot Springs Police Detective Branstetter reports the following:
On 09/13/19 at approximately 0234 hours I, Detective Branstetter #109, was called into the HSPD in regards to Richard Thompson, Jr. being placed into custody for breaking several windows at 134 Convention Boulevard.
Sgt. Lennox #25 advised that he observed two large broken windows ($2,000) and cut flag pole ropes ($150) at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Sgt. Lennox then observed a blood trail leading from north to south on Malvern Avenue, in front of Hotel Hot Springs, with the blood trail continuing west across Malvern Avenue.
Sgt. Lennox then viewed video surveillance at Hotel Hot Springs at which time he observed a black male walking the same path that the blood was located. Minutes later, officers responded to National Park Medical Center after being notified that a black male was seeking treatment for a laceration to his right arm.
When contact was made with that black male, he was identified as Richard Thompson, Jr., the same black male as was observed in the surveillance video.
There were several broken windows in the area which the male was observed.
The total estimated value of damage Thompson caused to the Convention Center is $2,150.
Mr. Thompson was arrested and transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Criminal Mischief In The 1st Degree, with a bond amount of $2,500.
