All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.

Hot Springs Police Detective Jessup reports the following:

On 05/28/19, a victim reported a forgery of a check on his Diamond Lakes Federal Credit Union checking account.  The check was issued to Miguel Colon for five hundred dollars, and was deposited at Bank OZK, 1401 Albert Pike, Hot Springs, AR, on 05/23/19.  The victim advised the Diamond Lakes account is a joint account with his brother and neither had issued the check to Miguel Colon.

Miguel Antonio Colon, 49, of School Street in Hot Springs – allegedly caught on ATM video depositing an alleged forged check into his account.

Miguel Colon’s account information was obtained from Bank OZK, along with the video surveillance footage of the transaction when the victim’s check was deposited.

I, Detective Les Jessup, reviewed the bank surveillance video.  I compared the subject seen in the video to Miguel Colon’s Florida driver license photo, and confirmed Miguel Colon is the subject who deposited the check at the Bank OZK ATM.

Bank OZK reimbursed the five hundred dollars to the victim’s account.

An arrest warrant was sworn out for Felony Forgery and Theft Of Property and entered into the police computer.

On 07/20/19 HSPD Officer 1st Class Stone came in contact with Mr. Colon and arrested him on this warrant.  Mr. Colon was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Forgery 2nd Degree and Theft Of Property with a bond amount totaling $4,500.
