All suspects are presumed innocent until determined guilty in court.
Hot Springs Police were called to the 500 Block Of Prospect Avenue on June 21, 2019 around 1AM for the report of a suspicious blue Ford Mustang that was in the parking lot.
As soon as police arrived, a man quickly exited the Mustang and walked away quickly and the Mustang allegedly took off at a high rate of speed. HSPD Officers conducted a traffic stop on the Mustang. Kevin Alan Southworth, 37, of Oaklawn Street in Hot Springs was allegedly in the driver’s seat. Mr. Southworth initially allegedly said that he was just dropping off a friend at the parking lot, but was not able to remember the name of the friend.
Mr. Southworth’s information was entered into the police computer and police discovered that he had 2 valid arrest warrants for some prior issue. Mr. Southworth was arrested and searched. Police allegedly found him to be in possession of .6 gram meth in his pants. The vehicle was also searched and officers allegedly located a glass meth pipe with burn marks and a digital scale.
Mr. Southworth was transported to the Garland County Detention Center for processing. He is charged with Felony Possession Of A Controlled Substance and Felony Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia with a bond amount totaling $7,500.
