MENA, Ark. (KFSM) —  One lucky dad turned his Father’s Day gift into a $200,000 lottery prize.

Father’s Day Gift Turns Into 0,000 Lottery Prize For Arkansas Man

Lori Goodner of Mena

Lori Goodner of Mena gave her husband, Dwight, $20 for Father’s Day and suggested he buy some lottery tickets. So he went to the Tobacco Superstore located at 518 Highway 71-South in Mena and bought several tickets, including a $10, $200,000 Bonus scratch-off.

The couple won the last of three top prizes on the bonus game and now have a check for $200,000.

Lori and Dwight say they will use the money to pay bills and buy a new car.

Since retailers receive a 1% commission on winning lottery products they sell, the Tobacco Superstore will receive a $2,000 check for selling the $200,000 ticket.

Arkansas Brewer's Guild hosts Father's Day Fest at MacArthur Park

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Craft breweries from around central Arkansas celebrated Father’s Day in a big way this year with the first annual “Father’s Day Fest” at MacArthur Park.

The event benefited MacArthur Military Museum and the Arkansas Brewer’s Guild.

Sylvia Blain, Arkansas Brewer’s Guild Executive Director, said it was something they have been wanting to do for a while.

“Fathers need a day, they need an event and we’ve had a lot of them say ‘thank you for doing this for us’ today. So we wanted to do something to celebrate dads,” Blain said.

There was fun for the whole family with food trucks, live music, games and plenty of local beer.

Eric Amick and his family were among the many at MacArthur Park celebrating together.

“We were looking for things to do to get out of the house on Father’s Day and to do something special,” he said.

Amick said his two sons, Caleb and Jonah, enjoy spending time outside and listening to live music.

The Amick family moved to Little Rock two years ago and came to the event because of a specific New Orleans performer, Butterfly.

“Spending the day with my boys at a place like this reminds me of being back in New Orleans and at a jazz fest,” Amick said.

Jonah and Caleb said they enjoy playing video games, talking and learning things from their dad every day.

Amick said his favorite part about being a dad has always been the same.

“The best part of being a father is just taking this new life and helping guide them in the right path,” he said.

The Brewer’s Guild plans on making this an annual event and the Amick family hopes to come back next year.
