On December 11, the owner of the Vault, a restaurant at 723 Central Avenue in Hot Springs, reported a theft by his general manager.
The owner was notified that one of his business checks was written to a landscaper for $5,250 for “vent hood clean-out.” The landscaper verified he didn’t do any vent work for the money.
The general manager, Randall Womack, 57, of Mossy Oak Court, wrote the check to the landscaper as payment for a preexisting personal loan between the two.
The landscaper also said that Womack wrote him an additional check, using the owner’s business checks, for $7,750 to pay more of the personal loan. The owner told the landscaper to not cash it.
The owner is at a financial loss of $5,250.
Womack was arrested on December 13, and he is charged with theft of property valued more than $5,000 but less than $25,000.
